Our aim at UTC Warrington Sixth Form is to provide a high quality Post-16 education with a focus on a range of A Level and BTEC courses that will lead our students to full time employment, Level 3 apprenticeships or university.
Our students will have access to industry-standard facilities including modern science labs and a vast ground-floor workshop, supporting our specialisms in STEM subjects – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
Many students will opt for BTEC Engineering which is an alternative to the traditional A Level route but with the benefits of hands-on work and access to a wide network of supportive employer partners.
In Year 12, those students choosing to study traditional A Levels in Chemistry, Biology or Physics will have access to modern science laboratories to carry out practical learning. In 2018 we will be broadening our range of courses with qualifications including Psychology, Media Studies and Applied Sciences.
Our Sixth Form programme puts leadership and enrichment at the heart of the curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to become a Student Ambassador or Peer Mentor; those wishing to take an advanced role within college may apply to become a member of the Student Board of Directors – a group of students who actively engage with the Sixth Form’s senior leadership team.
We offer students the opportunity to take part in National Citizen Service (NCS) in partnership with Warrington Youth Club, whilst other opportunities such as joining our Combined Cadet Force or taking part in Duke of Edinburgh are actively encouraged.
Preparing our students for the workplace is a priority. We are the only 14-19 college that has PRINCE2 Project Management on the curriculum, whilst the Extended Project Qualification will demonstrate the ability to work independently on organising, researching and presenting a project. New to 2018, Resilia Cyber Security and AAT Accounting will provide our Sixth Form cohort with the expertise needed for their future careers.
At UTC Warrington Sixth Form we have access to a range of local and national employer partners, including Sellafield, Fujitsu and Stanley Engineering. We are committed to finding positive destinations for our students by securing them work placements, delivering workshops and presenting regular careers & destinations fairs in college.
The advantage of our Sixth Form rests with the quality of teaching, the access to a vast STEM employer network and the unique facilities we have on offer. Further to this, our Director of Sixth Form and Progress Leaders ensure that positive relationships are formed between students, parents and staff. Transparent communication is of paramount importance to us.
